The 2026 Fire Service Day in Los Angeles brought together firefighters, families, community leaders, and public safety partners for a citywide celebration of preparedness, education, and service. MySafe:LA was proud to support the Los Angeles City Fire Department throughout the day, helping connect Angelenos with important life-safety information in neighborhoods across the city.
Hands-on activities and public engagement took place at several fire stations, including Fire Station 88 in the San Fernando Valley, Fire Station 99 in the Bel Air community, and Fire Station 112 in the Harbor area. At each location, families had the opportunity to meet firefighters, explore safety resources, and learn practical steps they can take to better protect their homes and loved ones.

MySafe:LA Executive Director David Barrett and Director Steven Owens also visited a number of fire stations in Los Angeles’ hillside communities, including Fire Stations 76, 97, 99, 71, 19, 69, and 23. These visits highlighted the importance of wildfire preparedness, community connection, and continued collaboration between public safety agencies and the neighborhoods they serve.
A special highlight of the day was celebrating Greg Martayan, Executive Vice President of the Valley Economic Alliance, who was recognized with the Honorary Fire Chief Award. His commitment to civic engagement and community partnership made the recognition a meaningful part of the day’s festivities.

Throughout the event, the MySafe:LA team shared fire safety books, stickers, and educational materials with hundreds of children and parents. These resources helped reinforce essential safety messages in a fun, approachable way for young people and families.
MySafe:LA also demonstrated the importance of home hardening as part of its ongoing support for CAL FIRE and the California Fire Safe Council. With many Los Angeles neighborhoods facing increasing wildfire risk, home hardening remains one of the most important steps residents can take to reduce danger before a fire starts. Simple actions such as clearing defensible space, removing flammable materials, protecting vents, and maintaining roofs and gutters can make a meaningful difference.
Great weather, good friends, dedicated firefighters, and vital life-safety information made the 2026 Fire Service Day a memorable success. MySafe:LA is grateful to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, CAL FIRE, the California Fire Safe Council, and the many community members who came out to learn, connect, and celebrate the work of fire service professionals across Los Angeles.
Fire Service Day is more than an open house. It is a reminder that safety is strongest when communities and first responders work together.
